Girls day out

     Jenna has been very busy the last week. She has volunteered her time to SPARC which is a school for handicapped kids to enjoy the arts. Her volunteer time concluded today with their performance. The kids performed on stage with Sarah Bareilles, Jason Mraz, Zac Resnik and several other performers.  If you would like more information or would like to donate to help the school, please follow the link: http://www.sparconline.org/

     While she has been doing that, I felt that I wanted the kids to have some fun. They are both a little sad that school is ending mostly since they just got to make some friends.   While we didn't do much most of the week with school for them and work and school for me, we did have a little adventure today.

     First, we went to the Virginia Bazaar off of the Ladysmith exit of 95.  You can visit their website at: www.vabazaar.com .  We looked around for a bit and then actually bought some stuff. We got Aly a pink fan. She loves it. It's pink! What did you expect???

      Andrea got a toy like one that I bought many years ago. It's hard to explain.  I also purchased some of the best preserves. It is apple pie flavored. http://www.mccutcheons.com/

     Then we had lunch at Hard Times. YUMMM!  Four kinds of chili. I'm in. LOL

     After lunch, we went to Ferry Farms. http://www.kenmore.org/ff_home.html  We got to learn a bit about the excavation that they have been working on to find the boyhood home of George Washington. It was a lot of walking but I think the kids had some fun.

 I love the last picture because the girls didn't even notice that i took it. It just shows that they fuss and argue but that they love each other.


We came home and then had to run some errands. It was a good girls day out but we missed Jenna bunches.

I probably won't post much the next three weeks. We have some camping to do and a concert to go to (Andrea and I that is).

First Snow of the Year in the Richmond Area

Well, my kids are happy.  They get to sleep in tomorrow since they have a snow day. We got our first snow of the year this weekend with any real accumulation.   We probably got around 3-6 inches, I'm not real great as measuring the amount. On an exciting note, we finally got to use the snow blower that we purchased last year. Yeah!!!!  We got it last year and then it never snowed again, doesn't that figure. LOL.  Well, Jenna and I took it out and dug out the driveway and front walkway in under 3 hours. Which is a vast improvement from the 6+ hours last year that Keith, Jenna and I worked to get the cars out. Alyson went out to play in the snow and lasted maybe 1/2 hour. Catching up yet again

I haven't been on here in so long. I have had a busy few months. I was working for a while but then our sitter quit. So I'm now staying at home with Aly and Andi. Aly is growing really fast and is talking up a storm. Some words are really distinguishable and some just sound like a new language. We are trying to potty train her and she is resisting. Maybe she's not ready. Andrea is in the middle of her own battle, her weight. For those of you who know us, she has always been little. Well, after speaking with the doctor about this issue, we were trying pedia sure. (That stuff is expensive.) Almost a year later she has only really gained like a pound. So now the doctor wants to have her blood checked for a thyroid problem. She may have hyperthyroidism, or that is what he is thinking. well, any thoughts are appreciated.
