June 2014 ~ Another Summer Upon Us
It has been the entire school year since I last updated. I have been busy and most of the time don't know whether I'm coming or going.
We are in the beginning of a move. Yes, I said it. A move. We will be relocating to Chesterfield, VA. There are some really great schools there and it is cheaper to live there. I will be working from home which will be really nice. I have enjoyed living in Manassas but it is just too expensive to continue there.
Andrea is about 3 months away from being 13 years old. I can't even imagine where the time has gone. She is finishing up her 6th grade year. She tries really hard in all of her classes and her efforts show. She is harder on herself than anyone else could ever be. She has started getting more into the television shows that her dad and I watch which is cool because she really seems to like them. She is so much like me that it is scary at times. It's almost like I am getting to see myself grow up. Andrea started Martial Arts about a month ago and loves it. She is really good at it as well. She is going to do her first belt test at the end of the month. If she passes, which I think she will, she will have a yellow stripe down her white belt. Her instructors have told me that she is ready for the test which is a good sign I think. They are very impressed with her. I love watching her in class. Most of the time, she is the only kid in the class that seems to be paying much attention.
Alyson is getting ready to graduate Kindergarten. She is 2 months away from being 6 years old. My baby isn't a baby anymore. (and she will tell you it too!) She has came leaps and bounds this year with her writing and speech. She has speech therapy to help with some of the sounds that she struggles with. It was a long process and I had to be pushy but finally she is getting the help that she needs. She has learned so much this year and can always stump me with the information that she possesses.
Both girls have been riding their bikes. Andrea can ride her without training wheels now (not without some serious prompting, did she learn) . Alyson is in the beginning stages of learning herself. At the new house, we will have more of an opportunity and space in which to teach them. We all will benefit from having J's parents around as we will be living together in the new house. Below you will see a picture of the girls from our first trip of the year to the pool. We froze out tootsies off.
I have now worked at Quest Diagnostics for a full year. I love my job and have learned that I will be learning to take incoming calls starting next week. I look forward to the challenge but am a bit apprehensive as I never thought about learning the call center stuff. J started driving cab in October of 2013. It's not in his chosen field but it helps make the bills. School got put on the back burner for a short time but he is gearing up to get back in once we get moved. He is also applying for work in the Chesterfield area. I would love to see him get another X Ray job. That's what's he's trained for and he's good at it.
I hope that I have shed some light into our little piece of life and all that it entails. I'm just trying to take life day by day and enjoy the ones that I love while I'm living it.
