Christmas Time is Here Again

Image
Hey all, Just thought I'd write a short note. Christmas is upon us again. I really enjoy this time of year, especially now that Alyson and Andrea enjoy it so much. I've been really busy wrapping presents and making them as well. :) I'm really enjoying having a sewing machine. I'm getting lots of things made with it. J started college at the beginning of November and is doing great at it. Andrea is learning lots of things in school. Alyson is developing her speech every single day. Hope everyone has a great holiday season!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! k

Halloween and the end of First Quarter

Image
Halloween was yesterday. I think the kids had a blast. Andrea was a witch and Alyson was a smurf. I made both of their costumes. I'm proud of myself for making them but they were a little hard. This is because I'm still learning to sew. The pattern said easy but if you have no one to show you and have to guess on some stuff, it's not as easy as it sounds, but I got them made and they turned out really cute. Each of the kids got a large bowl of candy, more than they will ever eat. J and I were completely exhausted by the end of the night. We are rounding out our first quarter in home school. I can't believe I've been teaching Andi all this time. She is a really smart kid and I think that she is learning lots of new things. Yesterday, we had a full day of learning Halloween stuff. Coloring pictures, learning about spiders, doing cool projects. It was a lot of fun. I have to make her first report card, that actually sounds like fun to me. I really am a geek. Aly...
This is my second week home schooling Andrea. It is going well so far. We are learning about the solar system in science. Learning about the American Indians that lived in Virginia. In math, we are finishing the chapter on arrays. In English, we are working on her writing in blog form as well as working on her reading comprehension. Last week we covered the string instruments and this week will be another type of instruments. She created a octopus and a rainbow mosaic after learning a little about the mosaic and getting to see some famous ones. Alyson is learning all kinds of things like how to try to boss me around which isn't working to her advantage. She is growing so fast and her speech is improving daily. I love my kids but I have to say that at the end of the day I'm one exhausted momma. On a side note, we are going down to WV this weekend, so Andrea has a short school week. Have a great week everyone :) k

Fall arrives with many changes.

It's nearing the end of September. Andrea has started 4th grade. We started her in regular school but after much thought and various things with the school, we decided to pull her out. I am now home schooling her. She is doing really well. We have started going over the solar system, Virginia history, types of sentences and many other things. She is learning really quickly. I'm very proud of her. Alyson is growing up so fast. She is doing great with the potty training. Thanks mom. The only time we have used a diaper is when we ran out of pull ups before pay day. LOL Her speech is also improving. And she is starting to repeat everything we say. Which for those who know James and I, know that we tend to cuss. We are trying to stop. LOL I'm learning that my kids, although drive me crazy at times, are the greatest gifts that I get to spend time with everyday since I'm being a stay at home mom. I have always known that they were special gifts but now I realize jus...

Aly's 3rd Birthday :) and an Earthquake

The girls came back yesterday. So happy to have them home ;). The actually drove through our first earthquake. I was at home when the quake happened. I though either a plane was flying really close to the house or that they were working on the roof. Until I went outside and the neighbors told me that it was an earthquake and that the cars were shaking. Alys is doing really good with using the potty. At 3 am this morning, she woke me up and told me she had to pee. She peed a bunch and then we both went back to bed. Waking up this morning is a great thing because it's Aly's 3rd birthday. My little miracle is growing up so fast as is her sister. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALY BUG!!!!!! Andi seems to have grown so much since she was gone. She seems longer. Not sure if she really is but it seems that way. Well, off to enjoy Alybug's third birthday :) k

Missing the Bug and Bear

Well, the kids have been in WV for about a week now. Yes, I'm going crazy without them. Luckily, we have the wonderful ability to see them through Skype. The girls seem to be enjoying their time with their grandparents. My mom is trying to help us out by attempting to get Aly potty-trained. She is fighting me tooth and nail on this. I don't think that she can't do it, I just think that she is being stubborn. Not that I know where she would get that from. They will come home just before Aly's third birthday. I can't believe that she is going to be three already. I feel like I just had her yesterday and before I know it, she'll be leaving us for college. And I don't even want to think about how fast Andrea is growing up. Andrea will be 10 on 9/15/11. It's just so hard to say and so hard for me to read. She is growing up so fast and there is nothing that I can do to stop it. She wants to be a baby doctor and has since she was a really lit...

Catching up yet again

I haven't been on here in so long. I have had a busy few months. I was working for a while but then our sitter quit. So I'm now staying at home with Aly and Andi. Aly is growing really fast and is talking up a storm. Some words are really distinguishable and some just sound like a new language. We are trying to potty train her and she is resisting. Maybe she's not ready. Andrea is in the middle of her own battle, her weight. For those of you who know us, she has always been little. Well, after speaking with the doctor about this issue, we were trying pedia sure. (That stuff is expensive.) Almost a year later she has only really gained like a pound. So now the doctor wants to have her blood checked for a thyroid problem. She may have hyperthyroidism, or that is what he is thinking. well, any thoughts are appreciated.

1-15-10

I've been working for the past couple of months and don't seem to be able to keep up with everything. Especially blogging. I've had this data entry job that was only supposed to last a week and i started it before Thanksgiving, yet I'm still there. LOL I'm starting to wonder if it will ever end. Christmas was so fun this year. Alyson is really into opening presents. She did such a good job. and enjoyed her actual gifts. She screamed when she opened her copy of Toy Story 3. She just loves those movies. Andrea got a blu ray player from Santa and she loved it. She also got the entire Shrek collection on blu ray from us. For the most part, we are in a routine with the kids. we go to work, andrea goes to school and aly hangs out with the sitter. Then we come home and spend time together. we are boring but it's what works. :) On a fun note, my birthday is only 13 days away!!!!! Kiley
